Report: PL giants confident of signing Tottenham ace this summer, his teammate wants to join him

Tottenham Hotspur could be without Toby Aldeweireld and Danny Rose for the start of next season if Jose Mourinho gets his way at Man United, according to a report.

The Sun claims that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is keen on signing the pair to bolster his rearguard.

Talks over Alderweireld’s new deal, which would see him earn £110,000-per-week including bonuses, are up in the air with the enforcer wanting £140,000-per-week.

Due to a clause in the Belgian’s contract, the 29-year-old could be sold for £25million in 2019 which means that Spurs will have to think about parting with the defender sooner rather than later if talks continue to go nowhere.

And the report claims that Mourinho is confident he will land the Belgian defender.

It is said that Danny Rose wants to join him at Old Trafford.

There is better news though in the form of Harry Kane, who is set to remain in North London for at least another season, despite being a £200million target for Real Madrid.

England’s marksman wants to see the club into the new ground which is set to be completed in time for the start of the 2018/19 campaign but also is keen to see that Daniel Levy flexes his financial muscle in the transfer target and brings in talent that means they can compete for trophies – a move to Los Blancos would interest him at some point though.

The attacker’s current deal with the Lillywhites runs until 2022 and is thought to be worth in the region of £110,000-per-week – talks over an improved contract are already underway with the player wanting to be put on a wage structure that reflects his elite status.

Football Insider verdict

Whilst the thought of losing Alderweireld would have been unthinkable at one point, the partnership that was struck up between Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen in the defender’s absence has become one of the tightest in the league and Spurs will cope if they lose him. Similarly, a long-term injury to Danny Rose meant that Ben Davies’ has been drafted into the squad and is one of the most promising left-backs in the league. Spurs will be fine without the pair but if Kane leaves, an exodus could begin.
