Report: Wenger has tunnel bust-up with Koeman after Arsenal setback
By Arsenal correspondent Tony Hughes
Arsene Wenger reportedly had an angry exchange of words with Southampton counterpart Ronald Koeman on Tuesday night.
The rival managers were involved in a tunnel bust-up after Arsenal were held to a goal-less draw by the Saints at Emirates Stadium.
Frenchman Wenger is said to have confronted referee Lee Mason and accused him of missing a string of key decisions during Arsenal’s stalemate.
According to a report in the Mirror, Wenger said: “It’s always the same with you.” But Koeman then saw the exchange and confronted Wenger before replying: “It’s always the same with you.”
It is believed that Koeman’s annoyance with Wenger dates back to complaints from the Arsenal man at the officials on the touchline during their 4-0 humiliation at defeat at Southampton on Boxing Day.
Wenger was angry after watching his team slip five points behind leaders Leicester as they endured a fourth Premier League match without a win.
Arsenal, who were the only top-six team not to win on Tuesday night, are now in fourth in the table after being leapfrogged by bitter rivals Tottenham, albeit only on goal difference.
