Celtic need international star to return to form ahead of make or break month

COMMENT
One aspect of Celtic’s indifferent form in recent matches that has been notable is that Callum McGregor has lost his place in the starting line-up.
The Scotland international had become a mainstay of the side towards the end of last season, chipping in with important goals such as two in two weeks against Rangers.
McGregor’s good form continued into the start of this season, resulting in him making his international debut but since then his performances have dropped off completely, and it wasn’t a shock to see him replaced by the likes of Olivier Ntcham and Eboue Kouassi.
Interestingly, McGregor’s fellow midfielder Stuart Armstrong has also been unable to replicate his good form of last season and the midfield area has become a problem that Brendan Rodgers has found difficult to solve at times.
There has not been a stable midfield, as the Hoops’ boss has struggled to find the all important equation and balance in the middle of the park.
If McGregor is able to get back to something like his best form, it would be a big boost for the Hoops as they go into an important series of games, which includes cup matches against both Partick and Zenit and a top of the table clash against Aberdeen.
