Revealed: Andy Carroll among four Reading stars set to go – sources

Reading are willing to listen to offers and let a number of their senior stars leave before the close of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Andy Carroll is one of the names that could be heading out the door in the coming week.

The cash-strapped Royals are ready to offload Carroll, Tom Holmes, Nesta Guiness-Walker and goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis to trim the wage bill as the players don’t figure in Ruben Selles’ plans going forward.

Carroll, 34, has entered the final year of his contract after he joined last summer following the expiration of his West Brom contract.

The forward made 42 appearances for the League One club, netting 11 goals and offering up three assists in those outings.

Carroll was in the starting lineup for Reading’s first two league games this season but was left out of the squad for the wins against Cheltenham and Stevenage.

Reading have already made several new additions to their squad this summer.

Harlee Dean, Sam Smith, Lewis Wing, Harvey Knibbs, David Button, Tivonge Rushesha and Tyler Bindon all joined on free transfers.

Man United and Chelsea youngsters Charlie Savage and Ben Elliott also made the switch to Reading.
