Aston Villa are set to hand manager Unai Emery a transfer kitty of up to £150million for the upcoming summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed Emery will also be able to boost his transfer war chest with fees from any player sales during the off-season.

However, a well-placed Villa source has told Football Insider that the Midlands giants plan to rein in their spending in future windows.

It is believed Alemany returned to the Catalan giants after learning that Aston Villa plan to reduce spending in the coming years due to financial fair play restrictions.

The transfer expert had agreed to oversee Villa’s recruitment and flew to the UK after Barcelona announced his departure.

But his U-turn will not deter the Midlands giants, with billionaire owners Naseef Sawiris and Wes Edens keen to bankroll another busy summer and back Emery to the hilt.

Emery has already been backed with the signings of Alex Moreno and Jhon Duran in the January window.

Villa could have European football to help lure their targets to the club this summer.

Emery's side can guarantee a Europa Conference League berth with a win over Brighton on Sunday (28 May).
