
Revealed: Aston Villa turn attention to Hirving Lozano deal – sources
Aston Villa are lining up a move for Napoli star Hirving Lozano, sources have told Football Insider.
The Midlands giants have turned their attention to landing the Mexico international, 27, after completing the free transfer capture of Youri Tielemans.
Lozano has been shortlisted as a top target by Villa’s recruitment team as they look to bring in at least one, and potentially, attacking players who can slot into the first team.
The wide forward is regarded as a matchwinner who can make an instant Premier League impact and there are suggestions he could be available for a move this summer.
He is about the enter the final 12 months of a contract that expires in the summer of 2024.
Lozano was a key player for Napoli as they ran away with the Serie A title in the just-completed 2022-23 campaign.
He made 20 league starts among 41 appearances in all competitions, accumulating 2075 minutes of action.
They yielded four goals and four assists for the Mexican, who operated predominantly in a right-sided attacking role..
Since joining Napoli from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2019, Lozano has made 155 Napoli appearances, scoring 30 goals and supplying 17 assists.
Villa announced on Saturday they have reached an agreement to sign Tielemans and he will join on 1st July when his Leicester City contract expires.
