Tottenham are ready to listen to loan offers for Ryan Sessegnon after a U-turn from Jose Mourinho, Football Insider can reveal.
The Portugese had put the block on the 20-year-old leaving Spurs this window after earmarking a major role for him this season.
A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Mourinho is now ready to green light the temporary exit of the £25million summer-of-2019 signing from Fulham.
Sessegnon’s chances of regular playing time this season will be significantly affected by the imminent captures of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon.
The Spurs man have been earmarked to vie with Ben Davies for the left-back position as well as offer a potential attacking option higher up the pitch.
But more experienced and proven players are set to arrive to strengthen the squad in those key areas.
Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Bale on an initial loan that could eventually become permanent and a deal could be finalised by the end of the week.
The north Londoners are also set to announce the signing of left-back Reguilon today after agreeing the terms of a £28m transfer with Real.
Sessegnon has been the subject of strong interest from Premier League and European clubs this summer interested in signing him on a year-long loan.
He has struggled to make an impact at Spurs following his protracted transfer from Fulham 13 months ago and did not make the matchday squad for Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Everton.
Longer term, Mourinho regards Sessegnon as a left-back capable of establishing himself as a first choice for club and country, and able to shine in the Champions League.
Sessegnon has made just four Premier League starts among 12 appearances in all competitions since joining Tottenham.
