Revealed: Brenden Aaronson to undergo Union Berlin medical after Leeds United accept offer – sources
Union Berlin have agreed a deal to sign Leeds United attacker Brenden Aaronson, sources have told Football Insider.
A loan-to-buy transfer is set to be completed this week after Leeds accepted an offer from the German club.
A medical has been scheduled for the 22-year-old and Football Insider has learned that a deal is all but done after a breakthrough in talks on Saturday (8 July).
Last month (5 June), Football Insider revealed that the Whites were willing to sanction a loan exit for the midfielder following their relegation to the Championship.
The USA international enjoyed a successful spell in Austria before moving to Yorkshire last summer which caught the attention of a number of Bundesliga sides.
Football Insider also revealed that Aaronson has a relegation clause in his Leeds contract which became active following the club’s demotion.
The Whites paid a reported £25million for Aaronson in summer 2022 and acknowledge that they are unlikely to recoup that money after an understated debut campaign in English football.
Sources say that a loan move could suit both parties and help boost the midfielder’s value ahead of a potential permanent move in summer 2024 or a return to Elland Road if they can return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Aaronson made 41 appearances across all competitions for Leeds last season but was dropped to the bench following Sam Allardyce’s arrival for the final games of the season.
Aaronson scored two goals and provided three assists in those outings.
