Revealed: Chelsea making big push to sign Lavia amid ‘huge’ Pochettino claim – sources
Chelsea are making a big push to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be a “huge” fan of Lavia and is keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Blues are preparing to make more concrete moves for the 19-year-old once the new manager appointment has been finalised and made official.
The midfielder’s contract at St Mary’s runs until 2027 but is set to be the subject of massive transfer interest this summer, especially following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship with the teenager keen to play in the Premier League next season.
Talks between Lavia and Chelsea have been ongoing for several months as they continue to plot a summer move for the youngster.
This site first revealed the Blues’ interest in Lavia back in March, with Arsenal and Man United also keen on his signature.
Man City also have an interest in the midfielder and have the option to buy him back from the Saints for £45million in 2024 when the release clause in his contract becomes active.

Lavia joined Southampton from Man City last summer (2022) on a five-year deal but could be departing the south coast after just one season.
The midfielder has made 33 appearances for the Saints throughout the 2022-23 season across all competitions and has scored once and offered up one assist in those outings.
