Revealed: Leeds to announce new signing after medical completed

EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke

Leeds United are set to announce the signing of Motherwell winger Stuart McKinstry within days after he has agreed terms and prepares to undergo a medical, Football Insider understands.

The Championship promotion hopefuls have tied up a deal to land the 16-year-old from the Scottish outfit, who will be paid a fee worth £400,000 including add-ons.

A club source has told Football Insider that McKinstry is set to undergo medical tests after completing many of the formalities of the transfer, and will pen an initial scholarship deal which will then become a three-year professional deal when he turns 17 in September.

He is set to become the second teenager signed by the Yorkshire giants this year after they recruited attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz from Polish club Ruch Chorzow in January.

As revealed by Football Insider, Leeds have beaten Premier League big guns Southampton to the capture of McKinstry after convincing the player his development will be best served by a transfer to Elland Road.
