Revealed: Liverpool prepared to make new Jude Bellingham move after summit talks

Liverpool are prepared to re-enter the race to sign Jude Bellingham next season, sources have told Football Insider.

The Reds halted their pursuit of signing the 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder this month despite him being a long-term target for the club.

Jurgen Klopp held talks with the Liverpool board and recruitment team and it is understood that they deemed a financial package of over £100million too risky and decided that spreading it across multiple signings would be more beneficial.

Liverpool pulling out of the deal has left Man City and Real Madrid as favourites to sign Bellingham this summer.

Football Insider sources revealed on Sunday (16 April) that City are ‘ready to pounce’ with a record-breaking bid for Bellingham

However, Bellingham also has a contract offer on the table from Dortmund to extend his stay in Germany, and the England international has not ruled out signing it.

Should he decide to stay with Dortmund for a further year, Liverpool are prepared to re-enter the race to sign him next summer.

The Reds would be less concerned about finances if they qualified for the Champions League next season, and they also understand it would put them in a stronger negotiating position to lure Bellingham to Anfield.

Klopp is still eager to improve his midfield this summer, however, and this site’s sources revealed that the Merseyside club have shortlisted five potential midfield signings.

Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Joao Palhinha, Nicolo Barella and Alexis Mac Allister are all targets for Liverpool.
