Revealed: Major update on Dyche kitty if Everton takeover clears
Sean Dyche could be given a decent transfer budget for the January window if the takeover of Everton clears, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Toffees boss is keen to add reinforcements in several positions to help stave off the threat of relegation.
Everton are currently the subject of a takeover attempt by US investment firm 777 Partners, which requires approval from several key groups before completion.
The Premier League, Football Association and the Financial Conduct Authority will need to sign off on the deal before it clears.
Everton also preparing to appear before an independent commission on 25 October over its alleged breach of Financial Fair Play rules.
Cumulative losses over the past five years now amount to more than £430million, which is above the threshold of £105million over a three-year period.
Nevertheless, with Everton set for another tough season on the pitch – further investment could be required to keep the club in the Premier League for the 2024-25 campaign.
But it is believed a healthy budget post-takeover is not guaranteed due to the FFP concerns – despite Dyche’s insistence on new signings.
The former Burnley boss navigated the summer window under big financial restrictions – with Everton making a reported net profit of almost £37million.
That figure was achieved through the sales of Demerai Gray, Moise Kean, Alex Iwobi, Tom Cannon, Ellis Simms and Neils Nkounkou.
Beto and Youssef Chermiti were the only arrivals for transfer fees, while Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison arrived on season-long loans – and Ashley Young joined on a free transfer.
Everton recorded their first Premier League win on Saturday (23 September), beating Brentford 3-1 away from home.
