Revealed: Man City now plan to sell duo for £100m as overhaul intensifies – sources

Man City are trying to raise cash for the marquee capture of Lucas Paqueta by selling Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo before the transfer cut-off for up to £100million, sources have told Football Insider.

The Premier League champions are going to have to pay more than £80m if they want to prise Paqueta from West Ham this month.

The Brazilian midfielder has emerged as a top target for City even though they have already signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea this summer.

Pep Guardiola has also added Josko Gvardiol to his star-studded team, which means the club can now look to offload Cancelo and Laporte.

Both players have slipped down the pecking order at City and are no longer seen as integral to the team’s future by the club’s Spanish manager.

The club have already lost proven stars in Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez this window, while contract talks with Bernardo Silva are continuing amid interest from PSG, Barcelona and Saudi Arabia.

Silva’s current contract runs until 2025 after he put pen to paper on an extension back in 2019.

Kyle Walker had also been close to an exit but has reportedly had a change of heart and is preparing to sign an extension at the Etihad.

The 33-year-old has entered the final year of his contract in Manchester and had been edging towards a move after being unhappy with the initial extension offered by City.

But Guardiola’s side have offered the right-back a new and improved contract which the England international is keen to accept.
