Revealed: Pochettino has already started working for Chelsea – transfers lined up

Mauricio Pochettino has already started work behind the scenes at Chelsea, sources have told Football Insider.

Although Pochettino’s official start date at the Blues is not until June, the incoming manager has already started working on identifying targets for the upcoming transfer window.

The London club have been in search of a permanent successor to Graham Potter after he was relieved of his duties in April just seven months after his arrival.

Chelsea appointed former player and manager Frank Lampard as interim boss until the end of the season following the dismissal of Potter.

After a disappointing run under both managers the club are set to finish the season without European football to look forward to in the upcoming campaign as the former Tottenham manager prepares to take the reins.

Earlier this month (8 May), Football Insider revealed that the Blues have reached an agreement with Pochettino to become their next manager.

Now, this site has learned that whilst the Argentine won’t be officially taking over until next month, he has already been working on his first duties as manager of the London club.

On 15 May, sources told this site that a goalkeeper signing is one of Pochettino’s top priorities in the summer after a difficult campaign for both Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Some of the new manager’s targets include Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez, Brentford’s David Raya and Inter Milan’s keeper Andre Onana.

In other news, a European club have opened preliminary talks with Chelsea over Ruben Loftus-Cheek deal.
