Revealed: What Ange Postecoglou is now doing to save his job at Nottingham Forest

Ange Postecoglou is doing all he can to ensure he is not sacked by Nottingham Forest during the international break.

The Australian is yet to guide his side to a single win in the Premier League, picking up just one point from his four games in charge.

Forest are slipping closer to the relegation zone, and their supporters have already lost patience with the former Tottenham boss.

Postecoglou is set for talks with Evangelos Marinakis about his future, but has remained adamant that he will continue fighting to keep his job.

Ange Postecoglou is appealing for more time

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Postecoglou will be doing his best to convince Marinakis that he has everything under control, in order to save his job.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that he thought the 60-year-old would be an instant success, but it has gone in the complete opposite direction.

Since Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked by Forest, they have failed to win a single game in all competitions.

Wyness added that Marinakis is fiery enough to execute another dismissal, despite Postecoglou’s protestations.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I must admit, I did think that Postecoglou would come in and have a bit of a honeymoon period.

The reality has been very far from it. Marinakis is fiery enough and decisive enough that he would actually pull the plug this international break, so I’ll wait and see how that news pans out.

Ange will be doing his very best to convince him that he’s got everything under control. You know what he’s like; he’s very bullish in his press conferences, and I’m sure in person.

I think Marinakis may already be saying, I’ve got a better idea for the longer term and you haven’t impressed me in your short chance so far.”

Nottingham Forest have ‘queue’ of managers who want Postecoglou’s job

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest will have a queue of prospective managers if they sack Postecoglou, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources say that Forest is still a very attractive job prospect, even with the chaos surrounding the club.

The chance to manage in the Premier League and Europa League is a very exciting proposition for many and could cancel out the lack of job security.

If Postecoglou is sacked, then Forest will be looking for their third manager of the season, but are still likely to have a number of interested parties in the role.
