Revealed: When Tino Livramento’s Newcastle future will be decided after Man City latest

Tino Livramento’s long-term future at Newcastle United may not be decided until after the World Cup in 2026 amid growing interest from Man City.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that no decision on the 23-year-old’s future is expected in the immediate future.

Brown told Football Insider on 18 November that Livramento is focused on recovering from his injury despite the ongoing speculation about his future.

The full-back is aiming to get back fit and playing for Newcastle, and to establish himself in Thomas Tuchel‘s plans to go to the World Cup with England.

Following the tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico, the focus will shift towards his future whether that involves contract talks with Newcastle or a move elsewhere.

Man City told they must wait to sign Tino Livramento

Brown told Football Insider in September that Man City would step up their move for Livramento in the coming year as a new right-back is among their priorities.

However, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that no decision will be made either way until late next summer.

I’d be surprised if a decision was made on that now,” he told Football Insider.

“Obviously the interest is there for Man City, and Newcastle want to keep him as well with the offer of a new contract because he’s an important player for them.

“But I don’t think that’s going to be on his mind at the moment.

“He wants to go to the World Cup with England, and obviously getting back to fitness and performing for Newcastle will give him the best shot at that.

“If he then goes to the World Cup and impresses there, obviously that could have an impact on his future because there will be more attention on him.

“So he could delay signing a new deal and then see what his options are later on.

“Either way, I expect it’s something we will have to wait until after the World Cup for, because that’s where his focus is at the moment.”

Newcastle plan to keep Livramento at St James’ Park

Football Insider revealed last month that Newcastle are doing everything to keep Livramento at the club despite interest from top clubs across Europe.

Livramento has quickly become one of the most highly-rated full-backs in the country, and remains a key part of Eddie Howe‘s plans and ambitions for Newcastle.

However, he is currently suffering from a knee injury sustained during Newcastle’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal, and remains focused on his recovery.

Football Insider revealed on 26 October that Newcastle are planning contract talks with Livramento, with new sporting director Ross Wilson leading the push.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider last month that Livramento is happy at Newcastle and would be willing to put pen to paper on a contract extension.
