Revealed: Why Marcus Rashford’s chances of agreeing Man United transfer just improved

Marcus Rashford’s chances of joining Barcelona permanently from Manchester United have just received a massive boost, sources have told Football Insider.

Rashford left Old Trafford over the summer, completing a move to the Catalan giants on a season-long loan deal.

Across all competitions, the 27-year-old has eight goal contributions in just 10 games for Hansi Flick’s side, including a game-winning brace against Newcastle United in the Champions League.

As a result of his good form, Rashford has been tipped make a permanent move to Barcelona, next summer.

Marcus Rashford to benefit from Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski decision

On Tuesday (14 October), Football Insider revealed that Barcelona are not looking to renew Robert Lewandowski’s contract at the end of the season.

Therefore, the Polish striker looks set to leave the club on a free transfer over the summer.

Sources say that while Lewandowski’s potential exit has no direct impact on Rashford’s permanent switch to Barcelona, it could free up wages for the Spanish giants to get a deal over the line.

The England international has been out of favour at Old Trafford since Ruben Amorim’s arrival at the end of last year, so he will be looking to leave his boyhood club for good next summer.

Rashford in the driving seat for World Cup starting spot

Rashford’s superb form at Barcelona has been recognised by England boss Thomas Tuchel, who handed him his first call-up in six months back in September.

The Man United academy graduate started in a 2-0 win over Andorra, before coming off the bench to score in the 5-0 demolition of Serbia.

Tuchel has called him up again for the current set of international fixtures, and Rashford played the second half of England’s 3-0 victory over Wales at Wembley.

It seems likely that the forward is in a straight fight with Anthony Gordon for the starting berth on the left wing ahead of the World Cup, with Tuchel unwilling to recognise the form of Jack Grealish at Everton as of yet.

While Gordon has been impressive over the past two seasons, Rashford has a knack for scoring a goal from nothing, which could be extremely valuable during an international tournament and see him selected over the Newcastle United winger.
