Richarlison sends amusing message to Mohamed Kudus after Tottenham agree deal

Tottenham striker Richarlison sent an amusing welcome message to new signing Mohamed Kudus following confirmation of the deal.

Spurs have had a lively start to the summer window, with the appointment of Thomas Frank as head coach and a major squad overhaul already underway.

While Tottenham had initially set their sights on Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, the Cameroon international is understood to prefer a move to Manchester United rather than a reunion with his former manager.

However, the North London side moved quickly to secure an alternative, and Tottenham have announced the signing of Kudus on 10 July.

The Ghanaian had attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including Chelsea and Newcastle, but ultimately opted for a switch to Sprs.

Now, with Kudus set to link up with his new teammates, Richarlison has added a bit of humour to the occasion, sharing a message ahead of the attacking midfielder’s arrival.

Richarlison posts throwback to clash with Kudus in playful welcome message

Brazilian striker Richarlison shared a light-hearted welcome message for new signing Kudus, posting a throwback photo on Instagram of Kudus and Micky van de Ven’s heated exchange during a match back in October.

He captioned the post: “Welcome to the Spurs family Kudus” followed by a relieved face emoji.

The upload sparked plenty of reactions from fans and teammates alike, with Radu Dragusin, Destiny Udogie, and Guglielmo Vicario among those liking the post.

Kudus was previously handed an extended ban for violent conduct following that clash against Tottenham, during which Richarlison was knocked over after colliding with the Ghana international.

However, with Kudus now joining Spurs as the first marquee signing under new boss Frank, it seems the incident has been left in the past.

The 24-year-old endured a frustrating season at West Ham, contributing just nine goals and assists combined in an inconsistent campaign, but has a chance to rejuvenate his Premier League career with Spurs.

Despite his warm welcome to Kudus, Richarlison may not be lining up alongside him for long.

Football Insider has reported that Richarlison is open to leaving Tottenham this summer, with the arrival of Kudus potentially pushing him further down the pecking order.

The 28-year-old struggled with injuries throughout last season and started just four Premier League matches and with Spurs aiming to refresh their attacking options, the club may now look to cash in on the Brazilian to create space for new signings.
