Rio Ferdinand sends cryptic message to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta was the focal point of a cryptic social media post from pundit Rio Ferdinand after Arsenal’s 1-0 Champions League defeat to Inter Milan on Wednesday (November 6).

Ferdinand, 46, was on duty for TNT Sports as Arsenal took on the Italian champions at the San Siro as they aimed to keep their impressive Champions League record going.

Unfortunately for Arteta and Arsenal, a controversial penalty decision was their undoing, the ball bouncing off Inter striker Mehdi Taremi and hitting Mikel Merino on the arm.

Referee Istvan Kovacs didn’t hesitate in pointing to the spot and Hakan Calhanoglu stepped up for the Italian side to slot home and secure all three points.

Arsenal have fallen down to 12th in the new Champions League league phase with two wins, one draw, and one defeat from their opening four games.

Pressure is mounting on Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

Domestically, things don’t look much better for Arteta and Arsenal, as they’ve slipped out of the Champions League spots following a recent 1-0 loss to Newcastle, leaving their title hopes hanging by a thread.

As pressure mounts on the 42-year-old, Ferdinand took to X, formally known as Twitter, to let him know that there is always someone looking over your shoulder.

There will be no let-up for Arteta’s side as they prepare to face London rivals Chelsea on Sunday (November 10) in what could be a critical game.

Thankfully for Arsenal there is some good news, however, captain Martin Odegaard could be in line to get his first start since August after his cameo in their defeat to Inter.
