Robbie Keane ‘walks out’ after Celtic and Crystal Palace manager twists

Celtic and Crystal Palace remain heavily linked to Robbie Keane, with the manager impressing at Hungarian side Ferencvaros.

Both clubs are set to lose their current managers in the summer, with Martin O’Neill only being an interim, while Oliver Glasner will not renew his contract at Selhurst Park.

As a result, Keane has been heavily linked to Palace, becoming the clear favourite to take over in recent days.

However, according to Oddschecker on 26 February, one bookmaker has now slashed Keane’s odds to Celtic down to 7/1, making him the third favourite.

What has Robbie Keane said about the ongoing speculation?

Keane’s links away from Ferencvaros are nothing new.

Only recently, the 45-year-old was heavily linked to the Tottenham position before they appointed Igor Tudor as their interim manager.

Much of this is due to Keane overseeing Ferencvaros’ fabulous form in the Europa League, with the Hungarian side only narrowly missing out on the top eight in the league phase.

However, despite the consistent links to numerous jobs, Keane has played down a move away.

When asked about the rumours linking him to the Tottenham job on 12 February, he simply replied: “I can’t help the speculation.”

Who else is linked with the Celtic job?

The current favourite for the Celtic job remains Jens Berthel Askou at 4/5 odds.

The Motherwell manager has done a fantastic job in his first season in charge, with the club even an outsider to win the Scottish Premiership title.

Roberto Martinez follows at 11/4 odds as the Portugal National Team manager continues to be linked to Celtic Park.

Martin O’Neill staying at the Hoops past this season is also not too far-fetched at 9/1.

The 73-year-old has returned Celtic to form in recent weeks and has ensured they remain in the title race despite Wilfried Nancy’s disastrous reign.

A potential outsider is seen as Graham Potter. The former West Ham manager was sacked earlier this season after a disastrous start to their Premier League campaign.

However, a quick move up to Scotland has not been ruled out at 11/1.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen who Celtic opt to appoint, with whoever comes in facing a massive rebuilding job as the club continues to dip from their previous heights.
