Robbie Savage: This is where Liverpool will finish this season

Robbie Savage has predicted Liverpool to finish in their current second position when the season comes to an end.

The outspoken pundit has reassessed his pre-season predictions at the halfway point and has backed Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City to finish alongside the Reds in the top four.

He believes that Tottenham and Arsenal will miss out on the Champions League spots, while the Merseyside giants will finish as the second best side in the country.

The former Premier League midfielder went for Chelsea to win the league, followed by Liverpool, then Manchester United and then Manchester City

“My top four is Chelsea champions,” started Savage speaking in this video on the Mirror article. “Liverpool, United, Man City. That’s my top four, Arsenal and Spurs to miss out.”

A second-placed finish will mark the Reds’ highest league placing since 2014, where they also finished as runners-up.

Supporters will be delighted that Savage has backed Liverpool to finish higher than fierce rivals Manchester United.

However, many fans will still be hoping for their first Premier League title with just six points separating the Reds from the top spot.

The Merseyside giants will welcome Stoke and Manchester City to Anfield in their next two encounters, while they will face relegation battling Sunderland at the Stadium of Light to end a difficult Christmas schedule on January 2.

In other Liverpool news, Mark Lawrenson has predicted the Reds’ clash against Stoke.
