Robin Koch: Pundit fears ‘big problem’ after Leeds United issue statement
Kevin Campbell has claimed there is no need to change the protocol for head injuries after an incident involving Leeds United’s Robin Koch.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker suggested the responsibility should be on the player to alert staff correctly as to whether he is well enough to play on.
Koch was given the green light to play on after colliding with Man United midfielder Scott McTominay on Sunday.

However, the Germany international came off with concussion symptoms just 18 minutes later.
In a statement (21 February), Leeds revealed Koch “passed all of the on-field concussion screening tests” before continuing.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if the situation proved there is a need for change, Campbell said: “Look, players are too brave for their own good at times.
“I understand that you do not want to take risks but the player might have felt right and in the heat of the battle it’s sometimes hard to tell. Koch might have felt good to come back on.
“Do we need independent doctors or different protocols? I’m not sure.

“It is up to the player to tell you if he feels alright or not. If he feels alright and you take him off then you are going to have big problems on your hands. The player has to be the honest one, if I am concerned.
“What we have seen, is that if a player goes back on and isn’t right then he goes off shortly after. It is not as if he’s on for another hour. You soon gauge if he is alright and at that point a player is rightly taken off. I don’t think it’s that big a deal.”
