Robinson baffled by Nuno Espirito Santo update emerging from Tottenham source
Paul Robinson is baffled by Tottenham turning to Nuno Espirito Santo in their search for a new manager.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one questioned why Spurs would want the 47-year-old given that he has been shunned by Everton and Crystal Palace.
This site revealed on 23 June from a Spurs insider that Nuno is now a contender to succeed Jose Mourinho, with negotiations expected to take place.
It is believed new director of football Fabio Paratici is leading the club’s pursuit of the ex-Porto manager.
Nuno has come close to landing the top job at both Everton and Crystal Palace since his departure from Wolves last month.
However, Benitez is currently in pole position to take over at Goodison Park, while Palace ended their negotiations with Nuno.

When asked by Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs if Nuno would be a good fit at Spurs, Robinson said:
“When you look at his time at Wolves as a whole, he did a superb job but at the end of the day, there is a reason he left Wolves.
“I’m not sure if it was all his doing but by Wolves’ standards it was a poor season last year.
“He has held talks with Crystal Palace and Everton as well but that has fallen through so something isn’t right there.
“I heard from my sources that he wants 15 or 20 backroom staff members coming with him but I cannot see that happening at Spurs because Daniel will not want to do that because it will be very expensive.
“There is a particular structure now at Spurs with Paratici coming in. If he wasn’t succeeding at Wolves, why would Tottenham turn to him?”
