Robinson: Bielsa ‘could be unbelievable’ at Tottenham after major update

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa could do “unbelievable” things with the Tottenham squad.

That is according to ex-Leeds and Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 65-year-old potentially succeeding Jose Mourinho in north London.

This site revealed last week that Spurs are weighing up a move for the Argentine as their search for a new manager intensifies.

Bielsa‘s current contract at Elland Road expires at the end of this season as he notoriously only signs 12-month deals.

A 2-0 win at Southampton on Tuesday night guaranteed Marcelo Bielsa’s side a top-10 finish in their first season back in the top flight since 2004.

When asked by Football Insider if Spurs had any chance of luring Bielsa away from Elland Road, Robinson said: “From a Spurs point of view, I would love to see Bielsa there.

“When you compare the Spurs and Leeds squad there is not much comparison, and that is no disrespect to the Leeds squad. Tottenham’s squad is made up of top international players.

“Look at what Bielsa got from that group of Leeds players in the Championship, it makes you wonder what he could get from those Spurs players. It could be unbelievable.

“From a Leeds point of view though it would be an absolute disaster. It really would.

“He would be a very shrewd appointment but I don’t think they’ve got any chance of luring him away.”
