Robinson delivers ‘honest’ Dier verdict as Tottenham told to sign two centre-backs
Eric Dier “is not the answer” for Tottenham at centre-half despite his impressive display against Leeds United, according to Paul Robinson.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed Cristian Romero is the only Spurs centre-back who would get into another top-six side.
Dier, 27, excelled in Tottenham 2-1 win over Leeds on Sunday afternoon.

Robinson still believes Spurs need to sign two new centre-halves when the transfer window opens.
“Dier was a lot better against Leeds,” he told Football Insider.
“I thought he played well but in all honesty, I still don’t think he’s good enough for Spurs.
“Conte is going to play with three at the back and you can see the demands he is putting on his players, especially in terms of fitness.
“It was one of Dier’s better games but is he the long-term answer in the heart of a Conte defence? Not for me.
“Cristian Romero is the only one who would get in another top-six Premier League side. The other options at centre-half, Dier included, wouldn’t get in any other top-six sides.
“If Tottenham want to progress they need to sign two new centre-halves.”

Dier has started all 12 of Tottenham’s Premier League fixtures this season.
His contract in north London runs until June 2024.
