Robinson issues emphatic Everton verdict as controversial Conor Coady picture analysed
Paul Robinson has claimed Everton fans “cannot have a problem” with the decision to rule out Conor Coady’s goal against Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the application of the offside rule is working well and is becoming “quicker” and “crisper”.
As pictured by BBC (3 September), Coady looked to have scored a late winner in the Merseyside derby on Saturday (4 September).
However, a lengthy review from VAR official Darren England ruled the goal marginally offside.
The decision would ultimately be decisive as the game finished goalless to leave Frank Lampard’s side still searching for their first win of the season.
When asked by Football Insider if the Toffees should feel hard done by, Robinson said: “It is a tough one for Everton fans to take but it was offside.
“I’ve got no problem with the offside rule. It is more a matter of fact. It is yes or no.
“There has been so many dodgy VAR decisions this weekend. When it comes to VAR though it is a matter of fact. That is a lot clearer. You cannot have a problem with that.
“Yes, you can have an axe to grind if your goal is chalked off but it is the same for everybody.

“It is becoming quicker and crisper. To be honest, it is not something I would be too worried about right now.
“It is the other decisions this weekend that have worried me.”
