Robinson issues ‘massive’ Liverpool verdict after Luis Diaz pictures emerge

Paul Robinson has claimed Luis Diaz’s return from injury is “a massive boost” for Liverpool in the mid-season break.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the 25-year-old was Liverpool’s “best player” prior to his injury.

Diaz has been sidelined since the beginning of October after injuring his knee in a 3-2 loss at Arsenal.

As pictured on his personal Twitter (6 December), Diaz returned to training with his teammates in Dubai as they train ahead of the Premier League restart.

The Reds recommence their season at Manchester City in the League Cup round of 16 on 22 December.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the return of Diaz from injury, Robinson said: “It will be a massive boost because he was there best player up to his injury.

“He came into the new season firing on all cylinders.

“Liverpool have had their problems this season but they have had huge injury issues. There has been a lot of hype and a lot of noise about their lack of performance.

“Diaz is a big miss though. He is an integral part of the jigsaw. If he is fit come Boxing Day I think he will start.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side lost to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United in Diaz’s absence.

The Reds are currently sixth in the Premier League table, seven points off fourth-placed Tottenham.
