Robinson issues two-word verdict on West Ham signing Kalvin Phillips after source’s reveal
Paul Robinson has claimed West Ham have “no chance” of signing Kalvin Phillips from Man City this January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Premier League champions will not be willing to sell the 27-year-old.
Phillips has struggled for game time since moving to the Etihad in a £45million deal from Leeds United in the summer.
The centre-midfielder has struggled with injury and fitness problems.
Sources told Football Insider on 1 January that the Hammers have reignited their interest in the England international after failing to sign him 12 months ago.
David Moyes is looking to sign a centre-midfielder amid doubts over Declan Rice’s long-term future.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the potential move, Robinson issued a two-word verdict: “No chance.
“His Man City career has not got started yet.
“They are not going to sell him and he is not going to want to leave. He has had a few injuries and has not had a proper opportunity yet.
“At some stage he will get a run of games and when he does he will show just why Man City signed him. Phillips is a top player. Let’s not forget that a couple of seasons ago he was England’s player of the year.

“I think that is very optimistic from West Ham. I just simply cannot see that one coming off.
“Phillips has not even been there for a season yet.”
