Robinson slams latest woeful Sanchez display as Tottenham transfer plan revealed
Paul Robinson has claimed Davinson Sanchez is “not good enough” for Tottenham as he makes “far too many mistakes”.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one urged the club to go out and buy two new centre-backs this summer to address their “blatantly obvious” frailty at the back.
Sanchez, 24, conceded his third penalty of the season against Leicester City on Sunday – no player in the division has given away more in that time. (Premier League)
Football Insider understands Spurs are planning to sell the Colombian centre-half this summer regardless of who succeeds Jose Mourinho as their new manager.
The club recognise that they will struggle to secure a huge fee for Sanchez even though he has three years left on his current deal.
The club’s recruitment team, led by Steve Hitchen, are compiling a shortlist of targets to replace the ex-Ajax defender in preparation for the transfer window opening on 9 June.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Sanchez’s future, Robinson said: “Sanchez and Eric Dier are not at the level required.
“Sanchez is just not good enough. He concedes far too many chances and makes far too many mistakes. We saw that once again with the way he played against Leicester.
“We have seen Spurs’ defensive frailties all season and things have got to change.
“Spurs need two new centre-halves this summer. It is blatantly obvious. It is there for all to see.”
