Robinson: West Ham tipped to U-turn on Diop transfer after Moyes decision
Paul Robinson has tipped West Ham to U-turn on Issa Diop ahead of the summer transfer window.
The former Spurs and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said the 24-year-old “looks to be in a good place” having broken back into the starting XI since February.
This site revealed on 21 January that Moyes had given the centre-half the green light to leave the London Stadium on loan.
However, Diop opted to stay, and has since re-established himself as a regular starter.
He has partnered Craig Dawson in the heart of the defence for the last four consecutive Premier League fixtures, having only started three league games prior to that all season.
When asked by Football Insider if Diop has played his way back into Moyes’s plans, Robinson said: “He looks like he is in a good place at the moment.
“He was strong and aggressive against Leeds.
“David Moyes has got a team that is united and I think he will look to keep what he has got in the summer, Diop included.
“Moyes has dealt very well in the transfer window so far so it will be interesting to see what his budget is. If his budget is not huge then the outgoings have got to be as clever as the incomings.”
Diop has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the London Stadium.
He has made 84 appearances for the Irons since signing from Toulouse in a £22million deal in July 2018.
In other news, Robinson fears West Ham will not be signing Lingard permanently this summer after latest development.
