Rogic axed in Rodgers 4-2-3-1: Celtic best possible XI to play Anderlecht

COMMENT by James Black

Celtic must make one big change to their starting XI for Wednesday night’s Champions League group stage clash with Anderlecht.

Australian midfielder Tom Rogic should be axed to make way for Frenchman Olivier Ntcham as Celtic attempt to solidify the centre of midfield in the Hoops’ 4-2-3-1.

Bringing Ntcham back into the starting XI should see Stuart Armstrong pushed further forward to play just off lone striker Leigh Griffiths.

Craig Gordon should retain his place between the sticks behind an unchanged back four of Mikael Lustig, Jozo Simunovic, Dedryck Boyata and Kieran Tierney.

Captain Scott Brown must be joined by Ntcham anchoring Celtic’s midfield against the Belgium side with Scott Sinclair, Patrick Roberts and Stuart Armstrong looking to provide for Griffiths and fire the Hoops to only their second ever away win in the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers has an embarrassment of riches in attack with Tom Rogic and in-form James Forrest in reserve along with the prolific Moussa Dembele.

France Under-21 star Dembele is still recovering from a calf injury sustained in July and could come off the bench at some point.

Interim Anderlecht manager Nicolas Frutos took charge of the Belgians two weeks ago and faces a huge challenge in only his third game as boss.

The Jupiler League title holders have had their worst start to a domestic campaign in 19 years although Frutos appears to have steadied the ship a little with wins in both his games since taking charge.
