Romelu Lukaku: Tottenham tipped to complete sensational signing after journalist’s update – pundit

Danny Mills has suggested Romelu Lukaku could sensationally sign for Tottenham this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back claimed Antonio Conte could move for the 28-year-old if Harry Kane quits the club.

The Athletic‘s David Ornstein reported on Monday (7 March) Man City and Real Madrid are the frontrunners for Erling Haaland who is set to make his decision in the coming weeks.

Pep Guardiola admitted, via club media last week (5 March), he wants to sign a striker to complement his attacking options.

And Mills has suggested that could kick start a merry-go-round that could see Spurs sign Lukaku.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “We know that Kylian Mbappe is going to go to Real Madrid, so he goes in there.

“Can they afford Haaland off the back of that as well? Possibly.

“Pep has said that he wants a centre-forward. Let’s say Kane’s available and Kane goes.

“Then Conte may want Lukaku. That might seem a little bit far fetched but he’s not overly happy there.

“They have also got a myriad of issues going on at the club. He loves Conte, Conte knows how well he can play and knows how to get the best out of him.

“It would be a statement signing for Spurs. If you lose Kane and replace him with Lukaku then you would appease the fans a little bit and everyone’s happy. As long as Conte’s still at Spurs that is.

“There an awful lot of decisions to make. Mbappe, where does he go? Haaland, does he go to Real Madrid?”

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku

Lukaku moving to north London would be a major shock as the Belgian is a boyhood Chelsea fan.

He has scored 11 times and provided three assists in 46 games for the club across two spells.

In other news, Tottenham have opened talks over a £500million naming right deal.
