Ruben Amorim is a ‘problem’ at Man United amid ’embarrassing’ claim from former striker

Man United could face continuous problems if nothing changes at the club, as the pressure continues to be applied on manager Ruben Amorim.

Amorim has faced calls to be sacked at Man United, with the Red Devils lying 10th in the Premier League table after seven games.

Man United’s 2-0 victory over Sunderland relieved some of the pressure on Amorim, though he has still yet to win back-to-back matches in charge of the club.

Senne Lammens made his Man United debut against Sunderland, and made a positive first impression in-between the sticks but their is still work for Amorim to do to improve performances and results.

Michael Owen makes ’embarrassing’ Ruben Amorim claim

Amorim has been mainly criticised during his time at Old Trafford for continuing to use his preferred 3-5-2 formation.

Despite new signings during the summer transfer window, the system is still failing to improve Man United‘s performances.

However, Michael Owen, as per the Daily Mail [10 October], believes the system is not the problem.

They’re playing a back-three. If I’m not wrong, I watched Erik Ten Hag about a year ago playing a back-four, and it was some of the most awful football I’ve ever seen from a Manchester United team,” Owen said.

Some great teams over the years have played with a back-three. I’m not saying that’s my favourite formation at all, and I’m not saying that Amorim is right to be steadfast in his beliefs in that formation.

But I certainly don’t think all of United’s problems now are because they play with the back-three.

It’s embarrassing if you’re going to say the main reason for the downturn is because they play a back-three. I mean, it really isn’t.

“They could go back to a back-four and play as bad as they did under Ten Hag, then the screams would be equally as loud.”

Erik ten Hag was sacked after two-and-a-half years at Old Trafford, winning the League Cup and FA Cup in his time at the club.

Man United fans ‘struggling’ as Owen makes title prediction

Owen thinks the continuing circle of managers is not helping the Man United supporters or the club.

I think that’s the bit that Manchester United fans are struggling with now – renewed hope with a new manager,” Owen said.

Amorim hasn’t produced results and hasn’t given them anything to think that things could be hugely better in the future, and that’s the problem.

Pundits and fans do just go around in circles. When you look at what’s been wrong with Manchester United over the years, it was the manager who was blamed.

These projects do happen with the big teams. It happened at Liverpool in the 90s, It happened slightly to Arsenal after Wenger left, trying to find the right manager, the right players, the right fix.

“It’s taken a while at Manchester United, and although there’s no sign of them doing it now, it will click eventually. It might be two years, might be four, it might be six, it might even be 10 years, but everyone knows that Manchester United will win the Premier League again.

Man United have not win the Premier League since the 2012-13 season under Sir Alex Ferguson, and they have not come close to winning it since.
