‘Ruben Amorim is being sacked’ – Man United fans react to journalist’s update
Man United fans reacted in unison in their calls for Ruben Amorim to be sacked following the latest update on Andre Onana’s future.
Man United’s 2024/25 campaign was one to forget, with the club finishing a dismal 15th in the Premier League and falling short in the Europa League final against Tottenham.
Amorim faced heavy sack pressure from the fanbase, especially after the final defeat, with many questioning whether he was the right man to lead the club forward. Despite growing unrest, the board appear to be standing by the Portuguese manager ahead of the new campaign.
One player who continued to draw criticism was goalkeeper Andre Onana. Supporters were vocal throughout the season about their frustrations with the Cameroonian, and his performance in the Europa League final only added fuel to the fire.
His high-profile errors and lack of composure in key moments led many Man United fans to call for Onana to be sold, urging the club to find a new number one.
However, their calls seem to have gone unheard by Amorim after an update on his future.

Ruben Amorim set to keep Andre Onana at Man United despite fan backlash
Despite speculation around his Man United future, Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News revealed that Onana is “expected to stay” at Man United.
Luckhurst also noted that Amorim maintains a “warm relationship” with the former Inter Milan goalkeeper, despite the difficulties both faced during the 2024/25 season.
Football Insider had previously reported that Onana was one of six Man United players who could be sold this summer in a bid to raise funds amid ongoing financial concerns.
This came after it was revealed the Onana was open to a move to Saudi Arabia. However, if the latest reports are accurate, it appears both the player and the club appear to have had a change of stance.
Man United fans turn on Ruben Amorim following Andre Onana decision

Whether United still look to bring in a new goalkeeper remains to be seen, with Man United expected to step up interest in Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
Onana has endured a turbulent spell since his £47 million move from Inter Milan in 2023, with a number of high-profile mistakes leading to heavy criticism from the fanbase throughout the season.
Now, the frustration appears to have shifted towards Amorim. Following the update on Onana’s future, many supporters took to social media to express their anger and call for the manager’s dismissal.
One fan commented: “That will be a horrendous error and Amorim will set himself up to be sacked” while another added, “If this is true, Amorim deserves to be sacked.”
