Ruben Amorim ‘negativity’ is impacting his Man United stars after Gary Neville clash
Ruben Amorim is still facing serious questions about his position at Man United amid ongoing frustrations following a turbulent start to the season.
Man United’s 2-0 win against Sunderland eased some of the pressure ahead of the international break, thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko.
Football Insider revealed on 3 October that the Sunderland game was a must-win for Amorim as he would have faced “unbearable” pressure if he failed to win.
In the mean time, Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains determined to back Amorim despite the building pressure and is keen to give him time to prove himself.
However, that has done little to stem the tide of criticism aimed at his methods and management, with fans and pundits still not convinced he is the right man for the job.

This comes after Amorim hit out at pundits, including Neville, claiming his system is not the problem at United and that their comments are affecting his players.
However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during their most successful period, exclusively told Football Insider that his constant press outbursts are now having a negative impact.
“A lot of what he says doesn’t make sense to me,” he told Football Insider.
“Claiming that the pundits like Gary [Neville] are having a negative impact on his players is a poor excuse as far as I’m concerned, they’re only giving their opinions.
“If he thinks what they’re saying is wrong, he has to prove them wrong with his results.
“His record in no way supports what he’s saying, ultimately if the team are struggling it’s down to the players or the manager, not what people on the outside are saying.
“Amorim keeps coming up with these different excuses and reasons why things aren’t going well, and even when they win he’s finding negatives to bring up.
“I think that’s a big part of the problem, he’s so negative when he speaks publicly and that can only have a negative impact on his players.
“You’ve just won a game, the atmosphere should be lighter, but then he comes out and says this was wrong, that was wrong, this is a problem. It’s no good.
“That gets into the players heads, because if he’s like that speaking publicly I can only imagine what he’s like on the training pitch and behind the scenes.”
Amorim’s seemingly constant negative tone in the media has led to suggestions he could walk away from the job, but Football Insider revealed Amorim is unlikely to quit Man United.
Man United lining up potential Amorim replacements
Despite the United hierarchy’s plan to back Amorim in the long-term, potential replacements are still being considered in case they have to pull the trigger.
Gareth Southgate, Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola have been heavily linked with the position should it become available and are on United’s shortlist.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 6 October that former Barcelona boss Xavi wants the Man United job and is keeping a close eye on the situation.

Whether or not the former Spain international would be a front-runner for the job is unclear, with the likes of Glasner and Iraola the current standout candidates.
However, Football Insider revealed on 3 October that Amorim is unlikely to leave Man United despite suggestions he could quit rather than be sacked.
