Ruben Amorim told how to end Man United sack whispers after ‘huge’ twist

Man United are putting together a strong run of form to ease the growing tension around Ruben Amorim’s future with optimism beginning to grow.

Amorim’s side beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield thanks to a late winner from Harry Maguire as they became the first Man United side to beat their rivals away from home since 2016.

Back-to-back wins have gone a long way towards improving the feeling at Old Trafford and easing the seemingly constant calls for the manager’s dismissal.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has decided to support Amorim and recently revealed he would be prepared to give him as long as three years to turn their recent results around.

However, concerns have lingered that he could come under pressure should United’s recent form fall apart again as has been seen on too many occasions previously.

Ruben Amorim told he must build on Liverpool win

Despite the club’s public backing of the manager, Jamie Carragher has questioned Amorim’s position and insisted the board have put themselves in a tricky position.

As a result, Amorim has now been told he must build on the wins against Sunderland and Liverpool with more impressive results, with Brighton up next.

That is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during the club’s most successful period, as he exclusively told Football Insider that things could come “crashing back down” with a defeat next weekend.

It feels like things are looking up for Man United,” he told Football Insider.

“Of course, things could go wrong and they come crashing back down to earth, but wins against teams like Chelsea and Liverpool show improvements are being made.

“It was a great result at Anfield, there’s no getting away from that, and now Amorim has to build on it.

“There’s no point getting a huge win in a game like that, and an unexpected one if we’re being honest, to then go and lose to Brighton next week.

“He’s been given the backing of the owners and the board, so now he has to go and prove them right.

“There are certainly positives to take for United, they just have to stamp out some of the negatives which have been coming up far too often.

“Hopefully they take confidence from the win against Liverpool and can build on that now.”

This comes after Football Insider warned that Man United are one game away from crisis, with every defeat set to pile the pressure back on Amorim.

Amorim still facing sack pressure at Man United

Football Insider revealed on 10 October that Man United could be forced to sack Amorim despite the part-owner’s public backing if their on-field issues continue.

Despite wins against the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea which have given renewed optimism to the club, the Red Devils have lost as many games as they have won this season.

Failing to beat the likes of Fulham, Brentford and Grimsby have heightened concerns and calls for the boss’ head are unlikely to die down immediately.

Brown told Football Insider that Amorim’s negative attitude is affecting his players after his constant post-match complaints.

Meanwhile, Gary Neville has insisted Amorim is “not off the hook” despite Ratcliffe’s backing, telling him he must take responsibility and stop making excuses for their poor displays.
