Ruben Amorim will lose ‘great talent’ at Man United if he doesn’t change one thing

Ruben Amorim may see one of the players in his Manchester United squad leave if he doesn’t make one immediate change.

Amorim is currently under massive pressure at Man United and has failed to provide any consistency throughout his time at Old Trafford.

One big criticism of his tenure has been his insistence on sticking with the same system, despite the poor results that have come with it.

There has been a high squad turnover at United, as Amorim continues to search for players who fit his style of play.

Man United midfielder needs game time

Kobbie Mainoo has been linked with a Man United exit in recent months, with the midfielder not content with his game time under Amorim.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Mainoo will end up leaving if the Portuguese manager can’t give him the minutes he needs.

So far this season, the 20-year-old is yet to make a single start in the Premier League.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that United cannot let the England international go, as they will be losing a great young talent.

Wyness added that Amorim and the rest of the Red Devils coaching staff have to work out a solution.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “This Mainoo situation is one that they really should try and work out, but it has got to be clear that he’s going to get game time.

“Maybe Casemiro leaving could potentially open up that midfield area to slot him in, but he’s got to be given a real meaningful position, otherwise he’ll be off as well.

It seems like yesterday he was being tipped as the great new thing that’s come through. We were all looking at him and thinking, what a great talent coming through. It hasn’t quite worked out.

He’s got to be promised a real first-team starting position as part of a longer-term shuffle. Otherwise, I think he’ll be off, and that’d be another great young talent that they would have let go.”

Man United set to lose another midfielder

As Wyness mentioned, Casemiro’s Man United contract expires this summer, meaning that he could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Red Devils paid over £60million for the Brazilian when they bought him from Real Madrid, and could now be set to make nothing back.

He will be 34 years old by May next year, and the Old Trafford outfit will be wanting to move him on in order to get new blood through the door.
