Ryan Jack: McAvennie shares ‘big’ Rangers verdict after ‘great news’ on midfielder

Rangers are capable of beating anyone if a fully fit Ryan Jack is available for selection.

That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s recent run in the Gers team.

Jack has started Rangers last two games against Borussia Dortmund (17 February) and Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Dundee United (20 February).

His outing against United was only his eighth of the season in all competitions with the midfielder struggling to recover from a calf injury sustained last season.

Jack was approaching a first-team return in December but suffered a setback in his recovery.

McAvennie admits he “can’t speak highly enough” of the Rangers star and claims the Light Blues can beat anyone when he’s in the side.

“Keeping Ryan Jack fit is the big thing for Rangers,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him. If they can keep him fit then there is always a chance.

“I think they have missed him this season. He’s a bit of a speciality player.

“The job he does, no one else in that team does it better. Him being back is great news for Rangers.

“So, keep him fit and let him find his best form. If that happens then Rangers are capable of beating anyone.”

Rangers

Jack has made 138 appearances for Rangers since joining the club from Aberdeen in 2017.

The Gers are next in action when they face Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their Europa League clash on Thursday (24 February).
