Ryan Kent: Glasgow pundit slams ‘ridiculous’ Rangers star over ‘worrying’ thing he’s noticed

Ryan Kent needs to recreate his performance against Borussia Dortmund every time he plays for Rangers.

That’s according to former Celtic hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s form.

Kent, 25, registered an assist and terrorised the Dortmund defence during last week’s (17 February) 4-2 win in Germany.

The attacker earned plenty of praise during and after the game though he failed to make an impact when Rangers faced Dundee United on Sunday (20 February).

The Celtic icon has questioned why Kent can’t perform to his highest standard in all of his games and demanded more from the Rangers star.

“I was watching Kent against Dortmund, he was breezing past players,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I’m sat thinking ‘what can’t you do that every week’. It’s in your locker so why not do it all the time.

“The boy has so much talent but the worrying thing is he hasn’t been anywhere near this season, that’s been a problem for Rangers.

“But you can’t pick and choose your games, it’s ridiculous. He needs to be seven or eight out of ten every week. That’s how good he is. I’ve noticed he just isn’t doing that.

“He just doesn’t show it enough but he really showed it last week.

“It wasn’t just him, a lot of players did very well but Kent is the guy who was picked out.”

Kent has scored two goals in 27 appearances this season.

However, he has provided 12 assists for his teammates.
