Ryan Kent to make sensational Rangers return? Significant update on free transfer

Rangers are unlikely to entertain a return for Ryan Kent on a free transfer despite the winger being without a club for the past calendar year.

Whilst Danny Rohl is eager to bring in more attacking talent in January, the new boss is likely to be disappointed by the transfer reality.

The German has been told he will have to work with what he has got after Rangers’ latest financial numbers emerged.

However, there is nothing stopping the Gers exploring the free agent market as they have been linked with potentially welcoming Kent back to the Ibrox.

Kent comeback to Rangers improbable after ‘ship has sailed’ for reunion

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, it seems out of the question that the Teddy Bears would explore a deal for the Englishman.

Kent played in Glasgow between July 2018 and June 2023 before he left the club on a free to join Fenerbahce and later Seattle Sounders.

The 29-year-old’s highs of playing for Rangers did not translate to continued excellence away from Scotland, with the winger now without a club.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over the Gers’ stance on a possible reunion, I explained: “I would be very surprised if Rangers were to make a move to bring Ryan Kent back to Ibrox.

“I think that ship has sailed. Obviously, he is now a free agent with his spell at Seattle Sounders and the MLS coming to an end and the club deciding not to extend it.

“Ryan Kent right now is on the lookout for his fourth new club in just over two years. He had a great time up with Rangers, helped them win the title that time to stop Celtic‘s 10-in-a-row bid and was one of the best players in Scotland when he was at his best up at Ibrox as well.

“But, I think Rangers have moved on and I don’t see them making any plans to bring him back to the club in the near future.

“I think Kent will have to look elsewhere if he is to look to get his career back on track somewhere.”

Nedim Bajrami could leave in January as Danny Rohl desperately scrambles for transfer funds

Given the Teddy Bears’ adamant stance that they will not provide Rohl with much funds to bolster his squad in the next transfer window, the manager may need to offload dead weight in his side.

Sources told Football Insider that Nedim Bajrami could be surplus to requirements in January with the door open to his departure.

The Albanian has started just two games in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this campaign and is clearly not first-choice in the German’s midfield.

The 26-year-old’s sale would certainly aid the club’s financial struggles, allowing reinvestment in stronger talent.
