Ryan Sessegnon sends heartfelt Calvin Bassey message after Fulham announcement
Ryan Sessegnon has reacted to a major Fulham announcement involving teammate Calvin Bassey.
Fulham supporters largely enjoyed their recent season under Marco Silva, as they improved on their showing in the previous campaign to finish 11th with 54 points in the Premier League.
The Cottagers did falter towards the end of last term, however, and also missed out on a spot in the FA Cup semi-final to eventual winners Crystal Palace.
New signings are bound to be on their way soon this summer, but Fulham’s chiefs will first be focused on making sure the manager is in place for the start of next season, after Football Insider revealed last month that Silva was entertaining interest from Tottenham and Saudi Pro League sides.
They will also not want to lose any of their key men in the coming months, after Bassey in particular was a standout throughout his second full season at the club.

Ryan Sessegnon congratulates Calvin Bassey after Fulham award
Centre-back Bassey featured 37 times in all competitions last season, scoring twice with key strikes against Nottingham Forest and Manchester United in the FA Cup.
His impressive performances saw him named as Fulham’s Player of the Season on Friday (13 June), and the club posted a message to the 25-year-old alongside a graphic on Instagram, saying: “A super season for our Super Eagle.”
The Nigeria international is clearly well-liked and appreciated by his teammates, with the likes of Antonee Robinson and Sasa Lukic reacting to the post positively, and fellow defender Ryan Sessegnon also chose to share the post to his story with a message that read: “Deserved broski” alongside a heart and praise emoji to show his support.

Fulham could struggle to keep hold of Bassey this summer after his stellar season
Football Insider verdict
Bassey joined the Cottagers in a deal worth €21million (£19m) [The Athletic] from Ajax in 2023, and he has been a key man for the club in the last two years with consistently strong performances at the back.

He was already an established centre-back on an international and European level prior to his move to West London outfit, after he played for Rangers before his move to Ajax and helped the Glasgow giants to reach the Europa League final in 2022, while also being named in the Team of the Tournament for the competition.
The 25-year-old’s standout Fulham showings have not gone unnoticed, with boss Silva previously insisting that he “ticks all the boxes to be a top, top player,” and so they could struggle to retain his services ahead of next season with no European football on offer.
Bassey is a burly, powerful centre-back who certainly has the ability and potential to play for a team with bigger expectations, and if a team like Tottenham, who could lose Micky van de Ven this summer amid disagreements over Ange Postecoglou’s sacking, come calling, then he may well leave Craven Cottage.
