Ryan Sessegnon shocked by Fulham footage as Calvin Bassey reacts
Ryan Sessegnon could not believe his eyes as the Fulham full-back shared a throwback video of himself on social media.
The 24-year-old is back at Craven Cottage for the first time since June 2019 when he departed for Tottenham on a £25million deal [BBC Sport], though his career has stalled significantly since.
He only made 57 appearances for the Lilywhites, with a season-long loan at Hoffenheim thrown in between, before leaving North London again after having spent the majority of that time on the sidelines.
With his contract expiring in the summer, Fulham took a chance by bringing him back to the club on a free transfer, ending a strange cycle back at Craven Cottage by the age of 24.
Ryan Sessegnon reminisces over first Fulham spell
Taking to Instagram stories [11 March], Sessegnon shared a video of himself scoring against Newcastle United in 2017, captioned with: “8 years,” with a shocked face emoji.
Reacting to the original post by Fulham, Calvin Bassey wrote: “My man’s a vet at 24”.

Marco Silva ready to lead Fulham to glory
Football Insider verdict
Marco Silva has already been tipped for a Fulham exit, with the Cottagers proving to be consistent threats to the teams hoping to qualify for Europe this season, currently sitting seven points outside the top-four spots.
Raul Jiminez has already hit double-digits for goals this season, with Emile Smith Rowe and Alex Iwobi providing plenty of support behind him, and Andreas Pereira continuing to pull the strings in midfield.
And while Antonee Robinson’s quality will be of absolutely no surprise to anyone, his 10 assists in 28 league appearances has prompted Liverpool and Man United’s interest in the Fulham star.
Premier League standings | Points |
6. Newcastle | 47 |
7. Brighton | 46 |
8. Aston Villa | 45 |
9. Bournemouth | 44 |
10. Fulham | 42 |
If Fulham can keep all of these cogs together during the summer transfer window, there is no reason why Silva cannot bring success and silverware to Craven Cottage, but that is a big if.
Sessegnon would certainly prosper if Robinson were to leave this summer, but given the injury issues throughout his career, it would be a big gamble for the club to take ahead of next season.
