Ryan Sessegnon: Tottenham insider fears ‘big blow’ after injury update in last 24 hours

It would be a “big blow” if Ryan Sessegnon was ruled out for an extended period after going off injured during Tottenham v Everton.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Sessegnon, 21, went off at half-time after starting Tottenham’s 5-0 win over Everton on Monday (7 March).

On Tuesday (8 March) Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas reported the wing-back had been sent for scans on his hamstring.

The start of Sessegnon’s Spurs career was disrupted by a hamstring injury, missing 10 league games with the knock at the start of the 2019/20 season.

Wenham is hoping Sessegnon will be available for Saturday’s (12 March) game against Man United.

“Huge credit to Sessegnon, he seems to be taking on everything Conte has told him,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He is a firm favourite already which seems crazy to say considering his role under Nuno.

“I didn’t see him getting starts in Premier League games but he’s played his way into that first XI.

“He got an assist against Leeds with that excellent crossing ability and he did the same against Everton.

“That’s clearly what Conte wants, those crosses across the face of goal from his wing-backs.

“You just hope his injury isn’t too bad because he has been a key part of the side in recent weeks and it will be a big blow if he was unavailable.”

Sessegnon has made 15 appearances for Spurs this season.

His cross led to Michael Keane’s own-goal opener as his side beat Everton on Monday.
