'Gutted if he goes', 'All the best' – Celtic fans react to defender Parkhead exit revelation
Celtic fans have taken to social media to react to Erik Sviatchenko revelation that his agent has been contacted by clubs ahead of a potential January exit from Parkhead.
The Daily Record are have quoted Sviatchenko as confirming that he has been told he is free to leave Parkhead in January as he hasn’t been involved in the first-team that often this season.
With the signing of Marvin Compper and the emergence of Kristoffer Ajer, Sviatchenko has fallen down the pecking order and the time seems right for him to leave the club after almost two years with the Scottish champions.
Here are some of the best reactions to the news that the Danish international’s time in Glasgow is set to come to an end:
Sviatchenko signed for the Hoops by former manager Ronny Deila in January 2016 from FC Midtjylland for a fee of £1.5million.
His finest moment was probably a towering header that brought the Bhoys level in the 2016 Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers, a match which Celtic eventually lost on penalties and lead to the departure of Ronny Deila.
Brendan Rodgers didn’t seem to fancy Sviatchenko all that much, and he hasn’t featured since a poor performance in a 2-1 win over Rangers at Ibrox, the Celtic boss preferring to go with Dedryck Boyata and Jozo Simunovic at the back instead.
