Sander Berge compared to Arsenal legend after ‘big’ Fulham vs Liverpool message
Sander Berge took to social media after his fine display helped Fulham to all three-points against Liverpool at Craven Cottage.
The 27-year-old played a crucial role alongside midfield partner Sasa Lukic, producing one of his best performances of the season in Fulham’s 3-2 victory over Arne Slot’s men.
The Cottagers fell behind the match when Alexis Mac Allister‘s long-range effort flew past Bernd Leno, however put the game out of sight before half-time thanks to quick fire goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz.
This result sees Fulham move up to eighth in the Premier League table, while Liverpool failed to extend their gap at the top to 14 points following Arsenal‘s draw with Everton.

Berge praised for his performance against the league leaders
In a post via Instagram on Monday (7, April), the Norwegian midfielder said: “Big one, enjoyed that” in which he received multiple comments from his Fulham teammates.
The pick of the bunch was from Andreas Pereira in which he responded: “Norwegian Gilberto Silva”, with goalscorer Iwobi adding: “My Guy!!!”.
Comments from Sessegnon and Muniz completed the trio of Fulham goalscorer’s during the match, as the former reacted with “Top” and the latter with three fire emoji’s.
Berge plays an underrated role in Marco Silva’s system
Football Insider verdict
Berge often goes under the radar in Marco Silva’s system, as the defensive minded midfielder is tasked with screening the back four, covering ground and ticking his side along in possession.
His job is a simple, but one which every manager requires. The work Berge puts in off the ball is very underrated, with his 39 successful tackles this season providing Fulham stability at the base of their midfield.
Berge defensive stats for Fulham 24/25 |
Tackles: 39 successful tackles, averaging 2.4 per game |
Tackle success rate: 70.4% |
Interceptions: 18 |
Blocks: 22 |
Clearances: 27 |
Duels won: 57.7% |
Aerial duels won: 70% |
Not only this, but he has a tackle success rate of 70%, meaning that Berge is not often going into challenges and diving in without coming away with possession.
His performance against Liverpool epitomised just how well suited Berge is to Silva‘s 4-2-3-1 set up, allowing the more attack minded players the opportunity to express themselves further up the pitch.
