Savinho reveals Man City training update for Real Madrid Champions League clash
Man City star Savinho has shared a training update on social media ahead of the Champions League showdown with Real Madrid.
Man City will host Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium on 11 February in the first leg of the inaugural play-off match, which will determine who advances to the Round of 16.
The Brazilian winger was in the starting lineup for the recent FA Cup clash against Leyton Orient, where Pep Guardiola’s side narrowly avoided an upset. Tottenham loanee Jamie Donley scored the controversial opening goal against Man City, a stunning long-range strike from near the halfway line.
However, the visitors responded with goals from Abdukodir Khusanov and Kevin De Bruyne to turn the game around and secure a 2-1 victory.
Following the win and in preparation for the crucial clash with Madrid, Savinho remained in high spirits, sharing his focus with fans on social media.
Pep Guardiola has faith in Savinho to deliver
Savinho has impressed pundits and Man City fans in his debut season after joining from French side Troyes last summer.
The Brazilian winger spent last season on loan at Spanish club Girona, where his standout performances earned him a move to Guardiola’s squad.

His emergence has come at the expense of teammates such as Jack Grealish, who has seen his game time significantly reduced this season. Man City fans have been critical of Grealish’s performances, while Savinho has received widespread praise.
The winger took to Instagram to share a training update, posting a series of images as the squad prepares for the crucial clash with Madrid.
Additionally, Erling Haaland also shared a Man City training update, as the Norwegian striker was rested for the FA Cup tie against Leyton Orient.
Man City must build momentum for Champions League
Football Insider Verdict
Savinho has been a trusted option for Guardiola this season, making 31 appearances across all competitions. Although he has only scored twice, he has provided eight assists and contributed to City’s attacking play.
He has featured on both the right and left flanks, further highlighting Grealish’s struggles to cement his place in the starting lineup.
However, City’s overall season has been far from ideal. Guardiola’s side have underperformed significantly, finishing 22nd in the overall Champions League standings and narrowly avoiding automatic elimination by just one point.
Domestically, their struggles continue. They currently sit 5th in the Premier League, trailing league leaders Liverpool by 15 points.
All focus will now be on Real Madrid, as this play-off fixture will decide who advances to the Round of 16.
