Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to express their despair after Paul Heckingbottom admitted Pablo Hernandez could quit at the end of the season.
The United manager raised the possibility of the attacking midfielder, who has arguably been Leeds’ best player in this campaign, leaving when he addressed the media on Thursday.
As quoted by the personal Twitter account of BBC Radio Leeds correspondent Adam Pope, Heckingbottom said he has had extensive talks with Hernandez about his future but “there’ll be others trying to turn his head”.
Hernandez is out of contract at the end of the season but has said he is keen to extend his spell at Elland Road into a third season.
The former Spain international, 33, has consistently shone in what has been disappointing campaign for the club, scoring nine goals and supplying 10 assists from 41 appearances in all competitions.
Supporters are desperate for Hernandez to stay and reacted pessimistically to the manager’s update that there is a growing possibility the star player will soon leave.
