Scott McTominay: Pundit tells Man United star how to save career after Keane shredding
Frank McAvennie claims Scott McTominay is not good enough to play for Man United.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, wants to see more aggression from the midfielder.
In the wake of Man United’s 4-1 loss to Man City, Roy Keane told Sky Sports the club would never win “big trophies” with McTominay in midfield.
He was especially criticised for failing to track Kevin De Bruyne for City’s fourth goal.
McAvennie admitted he is a fan of the Scotland star but claimed he isn’t good enough for Man United.
“I don’t want this taken the wrong way because I’m a huge fan of him,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I love him but he’s not good enough for Man United. He strolls about the midfield.
“I’m a great fan of his and he’s one of the boys Keane picked on and he was dead right.
“McTominay was letting City walk all over them. There was absolutely nothing in that midfield.
“Keane would have up-ended the guy running with the ball and walked away.
“McTominay is a good player but he just seems to stroll in some games.
“I would like to see him get stuck in a bit more. He needs to show the fans he’s hurting.”

McTominay has made 30 appearances for Man United in all competitions this season.
He was replaced by Nemanja Matic in the United team for Saturday’s 3-2 win over Tottenham after being omitted from the matchday squad.
In other news, Man United star has been “mugged off” in “the biggest surprise” yet from fall-out.
