Scott Wright ‘will move on’ as Rangers set for big fee – expert

Scott Wright “will move on” from Rangers this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers defender Alan Hutton insisted the club will want to “squeeze” as much money out of the sale as they can.

The 25-year-old’s current contract runs until 2025 but has struggled to make his mark on the team in recent seasons.

As relayed by footballscotland (19 June), the Light Blues have rejected two bids from Preston North End for the winger despite being open to his departure this summer.

Wright made 21 Scottish Premiership appearances for the Gers this season but was in the starting lineup for just five of those outings.

Hutton insisted the Gers will hold out for an adequate fee.

They will be wanting to squeeze as much money out of him as possible, that is why Preston have come back in,” he told Football Insider.

As well as that, Rangers will want somebody to come in and fill that space. If they can get somebody in it might free up a little bit of wiggle room to allow him to leave.

Clubs always want to most and the other club do not so it is just about finding that middle ground. They will get there eventually.

I think Wright is a decent player but he has had enough opportunities to go and stake a claim to be a starter and it has not quite happened for him so I think he will move on.
