‘Sean Dyche in pole position to land Leicester job after Van Nistelrooy sacked’
Sean Dyche is now in pole position to take over the manager’s position at Leicester City after they part ways with Ruud van Nistelrooy.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the former Everton boss has emerged as the favourite for the role.
Van Nistelrooy is expected to leave Leicester following their relegation from the Premier League with work ongoing behind the scenes to land his replacement.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 23 June that Leicester could be left in limbo after Russell Martin turned down the job in favour of joining Rangers.
Brown told Football Insider in April that Martin was the leading candidate for Leicester, but concerns about their financial situation have led to turmoil at the King Power.
As a result, they have turned their attentions towards Dyche, who has been out of work since leaving Everton in January when he was replaced by David Moyes.

Sean Dyche in line to take Leicester City job
Brown told Football Insider in April that Dyche and Martin were two options for Leicester as they eyed potential replacements for Van Nistelrooy.
The former scout who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson, insisted that Dyche is now the front runner for the position and exactly what the Foxes need.
“Sean Dyche is the leading candidate for Leicester,” he told Football Insider.
“I think as soon as Van Nistelrooy goes, they’ll be looking to bring him in.
“They need some stability there and that’s exactly what he will bring.
“Dyche knows the Championship, knows what is required to play and progress at that level and what it takes to earn promotion.
“He demands a lot from his players and won’t tolerate anything less than 100 per cent.
“A lot of the players there need that, somebody to give them a bit of a kick up the backside.
“I think he’s as good an option as any in terms of what he can get out of a squad, particularly at that level if they’re aiming to get promoted again.
“He’s the perfect fit if they’re having off-field issues as well, because of his time at Everton.”

Sam Greenwood offer lined up after Leeds United decision
Alongside their plans to bring in a new manager ahead of their return to the Championship, Leicester are also aiming to bolster their squad.
Brown told Football Insider on 23 June that Leicester want to sign Leeds forward Sam Greenwood following his loan spell at Preston North End.
The Foxes are in the market for a new striker after Jamie Vardy announced he would leave the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of this month.
Meanwhile, Greenwood’s contract at Elland Road is set to expire in 2026, and Leeds are expected to be open to offers as he is no longer a part of Daniel Farke‘s plans.
